Session 10: Toward Caetterick

The Wolfsheads explore the forested plain to the north-east of the Keira Hills but soon need to find cover from a troop of rangers apparently pursuing a group of Ogre-Kin who flee toward the south-west.

With this threat past, they come upon the Bogbridge – Caetterick road that cuts north-west to south-east through miles of dense forest here. A hundred-strong group of soldiers marches past, then our heroes hurry on through the woods toward the plantation near Caetterick, where, at dusk, they attempt to cross a river – and are attacked by a mysterious glowing light.

Meilyr, Nuallan and Faelan make it across unharmed, Tangwystl, Lagrozan and Brennain are stuck on the other side.

No XP, no loot.

Session 9: Foraging

Having found the Red Hand’s cache in Willow Dale and gotten rid of the Ogrekin that were encamped there, the party decided to scout the Keira Hills for food and, possibly, shelter before eventually travelling east to seek out the Druid Edith in Caetterick.

XP: None
Loot: One day’s rations for all (from foraging)

Session 8: Skirmish in Willow Dale

Closing in on the Willow Dale in Keira Hills, the Wolfsheads come upon a band of Ogrekin led by a wounded Ogre. A skirmish breaks out while they are crossing a river, and three medium and one small Ogrekin are killed, a further two small ones entangled. The heroes are wounded as well, but before the fight devolves into a bloodbath, one of the Ogrekin offers a truce – half of their dinner (a bear) for an end to the fighting. The heroes accept.

New Loot
Three sets of hide armor, three clubs and a sling.
Half a bear.

In the cache
A Healing Potion, Longbow, 40 arrows, 10 torches, 2 Blankets, winter, 1 Backpack, 2 Waterskins, 6 Iron Rations (1 day’s worth of food each), Red paint, A set of woman’s clothes, Flint & Steel

Also: A letter about Nuallan, from a druid called Edith in Caetterick, suggesting the sorceress Zenya recruit her for the Red Hand.

Session 7: Keira Hills at last

Evading the mysterious bird-women, the heroes flee around the Alderley Heights toward Windermere where they spend the night in a Shepherd’s hut. Thus refreshed, they follow the forest’s edge toward Caetterick and manage to cross the road into the Keira Hills where at last Nuallan and their new companion Faelan can forage for supplies. The first meal in four days consists of mountain vegetables. After a second rest, they make for the Willow Dale in search of the Red Hand’s supply cache Grim Gerald had told them about.]

Session 6: Escape to the Hills

Trapped in a deep ravine in the foothills of the Alderley Heights, the bold Meilyr climbs a cliff and uses his rope to bring his comrades to safety. Breannain slays several of the pursuers’ bloodhounds but the strong Kaven “Neversword” is cut down fighting off the King’s soldiers. In his place Faelan, a rogueish half-elf from Alderley and an able tracker forced by the King’s soldiers to join the hunt, has decided to join the Wolfheads. Can they flee to safety in the hills?

3 dogs (135 XP) = 1005 XP → 201 each

Session 5: In the forest

Leaving the river behind, the wolfsheads proceed on the road towards Caetterick. They are ambushed by a mounted patrol of rangers but beat back the attackers, leaving two of them dead. The other two flee to alert the nearby towns while our heroes flee south into Alderley forest. They find a place to rest but are found the next afternoon by hordes of pursuers combing the woods. Driven to the Alderley Heights, the heroes wind up at the bottom of a deep ravine – will they be able to climb to safety?

Session 4: Down the River

The Wolfsheads row their river barge down the Conwy, pursued by a cavalry detachment from Kingsbay. They stop at a snake-infested island where Nuallan, Lagrozan and Brennain get some rest while the others stand guard. At night, they continue their journey and, after trading for some eels, beach their craft and flee into a stretch of forest between Caetterick and Alderley. Two huge bonfires further down the river at Alderley Ferry remind them that the hunt is still on …

No XP or loot (except for the fish, traded for the dwarven amulet).

Session 3: Escape by Boat

Riding on their hijacked carriage, our heroes cruise through Kingsbay and finally make it to the fisherman’s harbour. They stack beer-barrels to climb the city walls and escape under fire from two crossbowmen to a fisherman’s barge. Grim Gerald stays behind to cover their escape, his spirit broken after the arrest of Red Hand sorceress Zenra. Sudek is left behind as there are only six seats on the boat. Their next destination are the Keira Hills, where they are looking for a Red Hand equipment cache in the trunk of a dead willow tree.
