Spells

Spell lists for Druids and Sorcerers are generally unchanged from the Core Rules, except that the following kinds of spells are not available:

  • spells relating to writing – magic in this campaign is innate and cannot be written down
  • spells granting temporary HP – too fiddly to track
  • summoning spells
  • shape-changing spells
  • spells that obviate environmental constraints (stone-shaping, secure shelter, flying)

New Spellcasting Feats
Note that two feats have been added that allow even non-casters to learn arcane cantrips and level-one spells.

Changes to Cure Spells and Healing Potions
Instead of a number of standard d8, all cure spells and potions now use the hit dice of the recipient to determine the number of points regained. This is to say, fighters are healed 1, 2 or 3 d10, druids and rogues d8 and sorcerers d6.

Orisons
Are cast as regular 0-level spells and are NOT unlimited.

In addition to their other 0-level spells, all Druids learn Detect Magic and Guidance as part of their training and can cast these spells as an innate power.

Druid 1
Goodberry: 2d4 berries each cure 1 hp (max 8 hp/24 hours) (fiddly).
Summon Nature’s Ally I: Summons creature to fight (summoning).

Druid 2
Reduce Animal: Shrinks one willing animal (shapechanging).
Soften Earth and Stone: Turns stone to clay, or dirt to sand or mud (obviate).
Summon Nature’s Ally II: Summons creature to fight (summoning).
Summon Swarm: Summons swarm of bats, rats, or spiders (summoning).

Druid 3
Meld into Stone: You and your gear merge with stone (obviate).
Stone Shape: Sculpts stone into any shape (obviate).
Summon Nature’s Ally III: Summons creature to fight (summoning).

Cantrips
Are cast as regular 0-level spells and are NOT unlimited.

Rope Trick: As many as eight creatures hide in extradimensional space (obviates).
Summon Monster II: Summons extraplanar creature to fight for you (summoning)
Summon Swarm: Summons swarm of bats, rats, or spiders (summoning)

Sorcerer3
Explosive Runes: Deals 6d6 damage when read (writing).
Phantom Steed: Magic horse appears for 1 hour/level (summoning)
Sepia Snake SigilM: Creates text symbol that immobilizes reader (writing).
Summon Monster III: Summons extraplanar creature to fight for you (summoning)
Tiny Hut: Creates shelter for 10 creatures (obviates).
Illusory ScriptM: Only select creatures can read text (writing).
Beast Shape I: You take the form and some of the powers of a Small or Medium animal (shapechanging).
Fly: Subject flies at speed of 60 ft (obviates).
Secret Page: Changes one page to hide its real content (writing).
Shrink Item: Object shrinks to one-sixteenth size (shapechanging).
